Ashford Rigid Heddle Loom 32"Oct 16, 2012
I have never woven or owned a loom so I did quite a bit of reading and research. I chose the 32" Ashford Rigid Heddle loom for its versatility. This is the widest rigid heddle loom Ashford makes and you can add a second heddle if you want. And I may want to do that when I learn what that means. The instructions to assemble the loom were clear and a simple pattern was also included. The loom comes unfinished so it does need to be stained or waxed. I used Tung Oil and was quite happy with how it turned out, especially because my husband did it for me. Very impressed with Ashford's quality and service.

Good qualityMar 02, 2012
This is my first loom. It was really easy to put it together. It came with very clear photo instructions on how to warp and weave. I've done several pieces and love it!

Love it!!!Jul 21, 2011
Received my loom late yesterday evening and have already completed a test strip 4 inches wide by 4 foot long. It went together so easily, the directions are almost not even needed. The only change I would make, is that I'm going to order either the 10 or 12.5 dent reed. The 7.5 that it comes with is great for standard yarn but I'm looking for a finer weave for dish towels and such.

beautiful! great sizeSep 06, 2013

I am so glad i got the 32" loom instead of a smaller size. I have never weaved a thing in my life but I'm the ambitious type and i get bored with a purchase if it doesn't offer versatility or challenge. It would be a sad thing to spend a couple hundred dollars on a generally archaic textile device and not be able to make a length of fabric useful enough to sew with. I had this out of the box, put together and warped in about 1 1/2 hrs. I Watched the Ashford You Tube video on how to warp your loom:
I'm not going to finish this I like the look of the raw wood, I would guess over time that oil from wool and oils from your skin will give it color. Plus I was to anxious to get started.
I also bought the stand, I'm glad i did. This size rigid heddle would be hard to use wedged between and a table.

Nice large rigid hedle loomApr 24, 2014

I purchased this loom against the advise of my loom instructor as she believed it was too big for a 5"4" woman to use comfortably. I'm very happy I didn't listen. It is a beautiful piece made of solid wood, no glued together wood. Although it's not finished the wood is extrememly smooth. Unless you're keeping outdoors there is no need to put a finish on it in my opinion.
This loom has unlimited potential for a hobbiest or someone like me who has a home business weaving and spinning fibers. It is easy to use but I found the directions for assembly lacking any useful illustrations or instructions. I had to contact Ashford for help.
